Chasing a challenging 178, Delhi were down 72 for 5 inside 10 overs but the lesser-known Delhi all-rounder Yadav stayed calm during his 38-ball unbeaten knock to take his side home.

Delhi Capitals had anothet match-winner in Kuldeep Yadav, who picked up 3 wickets and was very economical. Delhi put on the brakes in the middle overs, riding on Kuldeep Yadav’s fine bowling effort of 4-0-18-3 which included the prized wickets of Rohit and Kieron Pollard (3).

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was impressed with the achievement of these two cricketers and tweeted: “Abhi tak toh yeh Yadavon ki IPL rahi hai. Very happy for two hardworking guys, Umesh yesterday and Kuldeep today (This IPL so far has belonged to Yadavs).”

IPL 2022 is the season of revivals. Delhi Capitals’ sensational spinner Kuldeep Yadav made a terrific comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he picked up three wickets in his debut game for Delhi Capitals.

Kuldeep was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise, for whom he has played 42 games, ever since making his debut back in 2017. However, he was released from the squad ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auctions,  after enduring some disappointing seasons in the last few years.  He was later roped in by Delhi Capitals at the mega-auctions for INR 2 crore after an intense bidding war with Punjab Kings.

Kuldeep Yadav, who was struggling with his form off-lately, was down on confidence however Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals showed faith in him by picking him in their first game of IPL 2022, and the 27-year-old delivered big time against the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians.

During his four-over spell, Kuldeep dismissed Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard and returned back with  3 wickets under his name for just 18 runs.

Impressed with his performance, legendary batter Virender Sehwag took to Twitter and hailed the brilliance of Kuldeep Yadav in the game. He also praised Umesh Yadav, who displayed exemplary performance in the season opener yesterday. He wrote:

“Abhi tak toh yeh Yadavon ki IPL rahi hai.
Very happy for two hardworking guys, Umesh yesterday and Kuldeep today #DCvMI”
