Lalu Yadav got bail from Jharkhand High Court, was sentenced to 5 years in jail

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has got bail from the Jharkhand High Court. He has been granted bail in a case related to illegal withdrawal from Doranda treasury related to fodder scam. On February 21, Lalu was sentenced to five years in jail by a special CBI court in this case.

The court of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh of the High Court has accepted the bail plea of ​​Lalu Prasad. Lalu Prasad will have to deposit ten lakh rupees as fine. Lalu Prasad was sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of 60 lakhs by the CBI court in the case of illegal withdrawal from the Doranda treasury of the fodder scam. With this, Lalu has now got bail in all the fodder scam cases. 

The former chief minister had five cases of fodder scam registered and has been punished in all. Against the sentence, Lalu Prasad had filed a bail application with an appeal in the High Court. Lalu Prasad had sought bail after serving half the sentence and for health reasons. Lalu Prasad is currently ill and is undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Delhi.

After Lalu Yadav got bail, his lawyer said, “He has been granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court on the grounds of completing half the sentence and health problems.” He will be released soon. He will have to deposit a security deposit of Rs 1 lakh and a fine of Rs 10 lakh.
