He represents Mumbai in domestic cricket and plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He is a right-handed versatile batsman and an occasional right-arm medium pace and spin bowler.

- Suryakumar was born into a middle-class family with roots in Uttar Pradesh.
- Since his early childhood, he developed an interest in cricket and badminton. But one day, his father asked him to choose between cricket or badminton, so that he didn’t sail on 2 boats. After giving a lot of thought, he chose cricket.
- His paternal uncle, Vinod Yadav, was his first cricket coach.
- He was 10 years old when his family shifted to Mumbai from Varanasi. The same year, he started playing cricket for his school team.
- He received his cricket training from Dilip Vengsarkar’s ‘Vengsarkar Cricket Academy’ in Mumbai.
- On his debut for Mumbai in the First-Class season against Delhi in 2010, he scored a quick 73 runs off 89.
